Lorna Seng

On Friday, the 30th September 2022, the Dalby Bridge Club formed a guard of honour at St Josephs Catholic Church Dalby to farewell long time member Lorna Seng. At 94, Lorna had led a very active life, she was a keen sports fan particularly following rugby league, cricket and tennis. Golf and bridge played important roles in Lorna's life, which kept her both physically and mentally alert, playing bridge until just a few weeks before she died. On the 29th July the Dalby Club celebrated sixty years of playing bridge with an invitation to Toowoomba clubs to come and join in the celebrations. A highlight of the day was to have Kim Ellaway present to give Life Membership awards to two hard working members of the club - Past President Diane Wenham and long term member Rita Groom. Both these ladies have, over the years, worked very hard for the club in various roles and well deserved this recognition.

A three-way social day was held in Roma on Saturday 23rd September. Dalby players who attended enjoyed friendly completion and great hospitality. Three clubs participated, Dalby, Roma and Kenmore, such was the success of the weekend that it was proposed to maintain this competition with the three clubs sharing the hosting duties as an annual event.
