Prue Haussmann

The Cairns Bridge Club has been privileged to enjoy Prue’s company for 45 years.

Prue was a founding member in February 1972. She served on the Club Management Committee in various roles until 1998 – a span of 26 years. She was Club President five times, and Vice President 6 times. Prue was the first Secretary (jointly with Dell Price) and for many years served as Masterpoint Secretary, Teacher and Director. Prue exercised all these roles very competently and with patience, grace and dignity.

Prue’s momentous contribution to the Club was recognised in 1996 when Members voted at the Annual General Meeting to make her an Honorary Life Member. This award has been made just 5 times in the Club’s 46 year history.

Prue has represented the Club and North Queensland many times, in congresses and in State and National tournaments. In Australian Bridge rankings Prue achieved the prestigious rank of Grand Master.

Prue will always be remembered by members of the Cairns Bridge Club. Her name is on our Honour Boards and Trophies and her spirit set a very high benchmark for all of us to follow.
